the vineyard
The vineyard is located in the Gard, in the heart of the Côtes-du-Rhône vineyards on the right bank of the river.
The wines of Chusclan have after Louis XIV consumed it and appreciated their generosity mingled with a great finesse.
On the terroir of Chusclan, you can find stony slopes and terraces, and even some sandy areas. The climate is Mediterranean and enjoys the benefits of the Mistral.
The emblematic varietals of the Rhône Valley are cultivated on the 80ha of the farm (EARL l’ouliveto) : Black Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan for reds and rosés. White Grenache, Roussane, Viognier and Clairette for whites.
OFFICIAL RECOGNITION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE OF WINE-GROWERS
The High Environmental Value (HVE) certification is the highest level of environmental certification for agricultural holdings. It is not compulsory but shows the commitment wine growers and farmers choose to make in managing their land. It aims at identifying and enhancing practices that respect the environment. It is based on specific indicators and requires achievements in all aspects of the business.
It is based on four key themes:
– preserving biodiversity (insects, trees, hedges, grass strips, flowers, etc.);
– phytosanitary strategy;
– fertilisation management;
– water resource management.
This certification minimizes the pressure of agricultural practices on the environment (air, climate, water, soil, biodiversity, landscapes).
As his son Mathieu returned home to work in the family business, they set up the Maison Rivier company together. They now work hand in hand to pass on their shared values: love of their land, their passion and know-how
